Adjunct of manner

ADJUNCT OF MANNER

An adverb used to show how an action is done is known as adverb of manner. Example : quickly, bravely, happily, hard, fast, well, clearly, soundly, probably, evidently, unfortunately, luckily, sadly etc. Manner adjuncts in a sentence can be realized in the form of adverb phrase, prepositional phrase, noun phrase and clause. The Manner adjuncts realized in the form of adverb phrase are usually formed by suffixation of –ly to corresponding adjective form

 

SENTENCES

1. He came back home as quickly as possible .(manner).

2. He caught the ball as if he were a goal keeper. (manner).

3. She danced graciously and was praised. (manner).

4. The students walked quickly into the assembly. (manner).

5. She speaks beautifully. (manner) .
